BRANCH OF
Medical
The Tree of Life Foundation International, Inc.’s Medical Branch makes a difference by helping individuals and organizations that are dedicated to providing medical care in the areas need most and enhancing excellence in patient care for the diverse local communities, national and International.
At our Tree of Life Resource Center, from 2021-2024, we have had over 302 nursing students who have and our continuing to serve from Palm Beach Atlantic University, the school of nursing and pharmacy. They have served over 970 beneficiaries through medical services. The nursing students, underneath supervision of professors come in twice a week for appointments to help with medical problems such as wound care and first-aid. As well as graduate nursing students offer their services and volunteer for their internship requirement by caring for our beneficiaries. The intern students are on a regular schedule, readily available for those in need, and are essential for developing input for beneficiaries. Tree of Life Resource Center with Palm Beach Atlantic University School of Pharmacy hosts an annual community health fair. At the health fair there are blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, flu shots, medication education, and toiletries are distributed.
In 2009, The Tree of Life Foundation International helped raise funds and combine resources to help Hai Nyugen, a young man who lived in Vietnam, who had become disfigured at an early age when he was diagnosed with a “blood born cyst.”Because of the cysts massive growth when Hai was in his late teens he had to have his right leg amputated. His tumor below his right hip eventually grew up to 198 pounds. The Tree of Life Foundation International was instrumental in finding the professional Dr. Mckay Mckinnon through Discover Channel, who had performed many tumor removal surgeries. One example drawing worldwide attention being in 2000, when Mckinnon operated on a woman with a 200- pound tumor. Dr. Mckinnon agreed to perform this very high-risk surgery pro-bono. In november 2011, the “radical surgery” was performed. The operation took 12 hours with a team composed of 60 doctors, nurses, and medical technicians a FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Through donations and Chicago based plastic surgeon Dr. Mckinnon’s kindness Hai could start to live a normal life, tumor free.
